Summary
Your Wordsearch does not sell personal data, does not serve advertising, and does not track location. An anonymous device identifier is created on first launch. Signing in with Apple is optional and adds cross-device sync.
What is collected
Device identifier
A random identifier is generated on first launch and stored in the device Keychain. It contains no personal information and cannot be used to identify a person. It is used to save puzzle history, track daily streaks, and apply usage quotas without requiring an account.
Puzzle data
Puzzles created by the app are stored on the server. This includes the theme, word list, and grid. Puzzles are linked to the device identifier, or to an account if signed in.
Gameplay activity
Puzzle completions, star ratings, and daily challenge streaks are stored against the device identifier or account. This is used to show progress within the app.
Account data (optional)
Signing in with Apple is optional. If used, an Apple user identifier is stored alongside a display name and, if provided by Apple, an email address. This links puzzle history and progress across devices.
Contact form submissions
If a support message is sent via the website, the name, email address, message, and IP address are stored in order to respond.
IP addresses
IP addresses are used for rate limiting on API requests. They are not stored long-term or used for any other purpose.
What is not collected
How data is used
Data is used solely to operate the app — saving puzzles, tracking streaks, enabling multiplayer matches, and responding to support messages. Data is never sold, shared with third parties for advertising, or used for profiling.
Data storage
Server data is stored on infrastructure hosted in the European Union. Puzzle content and gameplay data are also cached on-device for offline access.
Data retention and deletion
Puzzle data and activity linked to a device identifier is retained while the app is in use. Deleting an account removes all associated data from the server permanently. Account deletion is available from within the app under Profile → Manage Account.
Children
The app is rated 13+ on the Apple App Store. It does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
